ONGOING AND RECURRING EVENTS & EXHIBITIONS

Pictorial Space

The investigation of visual space has been a focus throughout the history of art. In particular, many artists in the twentieth century explored approaches to representing pictorial space in ways that related to the actual surface of the painting. Texture, color, and mark making are configured and arranged to characterize the visual world. These varied explorations are the subject of this exhibition and artists were selected who examine a range of ideas.  Artists included in the exhibition: Soni Martin, Becky Lee, Vilas Tonape, Suzanne Aulds, Deborah S. Reavis, Dwight Smith, and Capel States.  Each artist in the exhibit speaks to the traditional or an extended exploration of pictorial representation. This exhibit runs through August 20.
Presented by Ellington-White through an Arts Council space grant.
